Joy in Trial

Screen-Printed Posters

Presented by The Porch: The College Ministry of Bull Street Baptist Church and Reformed University Fellowship, Joy in Trial was a gallery of work that focused on an exploration of finding peace in the midst of adversity, based on scripture found in James 1:2–4 (“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”). In the middle of trials and tribulations we so often lose heart and become discouraged, but these posters are a reminder of the promises of God to be our peace and our strength.

Look at them posters!

After falling in love with screenprinting during a class at SCAD, I love to take any opportunity I can to silkscreen things. There’s just something pure about the process. With posters, I love to explore the idea of combining two or more images that become more than the sum of their parts. Each of these posters might not be immediately recognizable for their meaning, but each one rewards further exploration, as each visually portrays a piece of scripture
